About
Hi, I’m Kim.
SO nice to meet you! I’ve always enjoyed writing and have dabbled with blogging a bit here and there. But, it’s been 14 years (gasp!) since my last post on my crappy old blog. A lot has happened since then and I am in a good chapter of life where I can still remember things that happened way back when. (Well, sometimes my husband has to help because his memory is INSANE – we’re a good team. LOL)
I took my favorite posts from the past (well, a couple of them – haha) and am starting fresh for 2022. Over the last two years, my interest in writing has been less of a desire and more of an ache. I need to do it for ME. And, I’ve come to love this creative, fun, therapeutic outlet.
So, here are some absolutely astounding nuggets about me…
- By day, I own my own Web Design business. I have been designing websites since 2008, and have launched over 350 so far. I absolutely, LOVE what I do and consider myself very lucky to be able to use my creativity to help others. This website is also a playground for me to have fun with creativity. 🙂
- I love silence and solitude – indoors, outdoors, doesn’t matter. As much as I’m not a cold-weather girl, there’s nothing I love more than the experience of walking outside after a Pure Michigan DUMPING of new snow. It’s like a little slice of peace on earth.
- I am an Enneagram 9w1 or 1w9 – I still haven’t figured it out, which means I’m most likely a 9. I need my peace, and I’m also a bit of a control freak who has to do things right. (Lucky for my clients!)
- To keep my peace, I love dropping an F-bomb when it’s appropriate. I actually think it’s appropriate quite often. 😉
- My daughter made me a shirt for Christmas that describes me best. It says “Coffee gets me started, Wine keeps me going!”
~ I love a good rich cup of coffee and my Nespresso machine.
~ My preferred wine is any velvety, rich, bourbon-barrel aged Cab, but I also love a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc in the summer. Mmmmmm… - I’m an adopted only child (who was NOT spoiled) and my first name changed when I was adopted at 10 months old. My foster baby name was Cheryl. Cheryl?!?!? My adoptive parents renamed me Kimberly. Thank God. I can’t really Kimprove things or reKimmend things if my name was Cheryl!
(Evidently, I also enjoyed sweet tea in my bottle (WTF?!), so I’m super glad I was adopted before all my teeth came in and then fell out from sugar rot. True – it’s in my records!) - I got to meet my biological mother when I was in my mid twenties and she is one of the kindest, strongest, people I know who could have taken the “easy way out,” but didn’t. I’m really glad I’m here. 🙂 I have a mother who brought me into the world and a mother who brought me up in the world, and they both loved me in the best way they could. <3
- I’m married, and we’ve been together for almost three decades. That is crazy! I’m not sure how he put up with me, especially the last 10 years, when my hormones were raging, but here we are. (I keep him around because he CLEANS.)
- I have two gorgeous adult daughters that are the absolute joy of my life. They have definitely kept the ride interesting!
- I have two grandsons – Alonzo who is our 5-month old angel grandson and is now living his best life with Jesus, and ‘Lil Amos, who brought joy, healing and hope to our family again. <3
- I love Jesus. I am taking a break from “church in a building” (after 26 years) and enjoying smaller get-togethers with spiritual friends who lift my soul. Together, over some holy wine, we share, search, question, and ponder. So thankful for our gatherings (and growth) over the last year.
- I have lived with anxiety on and off since my teenage years. BLECH! It sucks. But, for now, I’m in a much better place. I am thankful to Prozac and my awesome mindset coach. A winning combination! Journaling and writing has become therapy for me.
- I have two dogs. A Pug, Herbie the Luv Pug (10 yrs), who is the love of my life. (Sorry, not sorry.) I also have a chocolate Lab, CoCo (9 yrs), who is very needy and doesn’t like being number two. I don’t do “needy” very well. But she’s here with us to the end, because I’m not going to uproot her life because she ended up here on a whim. You will typically find both dogs under my desk chair (locking me in the same position for hours) because the rest of the house is just too lonely – the beds, the sofas, the carpet, all of it. It’s just not enough. Oh, there’s a cat here, too – but we won’t talk about that. Sigh.
- Taking pictures of pretty food and drinks brings me immense joy. In another life, I would be a food stylist/photographer. Try as I might, I don’t quite have those skills.
- I’m pretty much an introvert until I get a microphone in my hand. I love karaoke!
- I can’t find things when they are in front of my face.
