My husband recently got to pick a prize from work and chose the Ooni Koda pizza oven. I was like, “ok, well there’s one more thing to take care of.” 🙄 No enthusiasm on this addition to our home – whatsoever.

So, the thing comes in and my next-door neighbor is SUPER excited that we have a pizza oven, so she plans to come over that night and bring homemade dough and all the toppings. Ok.

First, let me say, the joy of hanging with your dear friend and making dinner together is a highlight in itself. So thankful for amazing neighbors! <3

4 steps of the pizza oven

Ok, so we hook it up to the gas tank from the grill and fire it up.

Pizza #1. Test pizza. Got a bit over-charred. I love a good char, but this was not salvageable. Ooops. A few seconds too long at 900 degrees makes quite an impact!

Pizza #2. Better. For the guys. Red sauce, pepperoni, sweet italian sausage, quattro formaggio, green pepper, and red onions.

Crap. Now I have to backpedal – this pizza was a-freakin’-mazing. SO fresh!

Pizza #3. OMG! For the ladies. Pesto, goat cheese, pepperoni, green pepper, and onion, with a sprinkle of my “Magic Seasoning” (McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning) – I put it on practically everything. Now, I’m ALL IN on the pizza oven idea and can’t wait to have pizza nights!

We are still working on perfecting the dough, and the half-turn during cooking has not yet been mastered. Definitely a goal for this summer!

Well, Ooni Koda, you made my Rekimmended list! Thank you for not only a great product, but for fun opportunities to gather with friends over mouthwatering homemade pizza. Can’t wait to try new recipes – I’m lookin’ at you artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, banana peppers, and feta!
