Choosing a word for the year has never been my thing. At. All. (I hate setting goals, too. Life is much more exciting when you fly by the seat of your pants, #amiright?!) But, I started thinking… if I were one of those weirdos (haha) who chose a word, what would it be? I thought about it for about 11 seconds. A few words came to mind, but nothing really resonated.
Then, this morning, the word ENCOURAGER bolted into my head.
Ummmm – NOPE.
Hmmmmm…
maybe?
I tried it on for a minute, and it felt kinda good, and definitely scary. Because most of the time, I really have no clue what to say. Seriously, I can’t come up with words, and I end up looking like Cindy Brady when the red light comes on.
Then I realized that encouragement can look like many things. For me it looks a lot like
- someone to just “be” with you,
- a shared bottle of wine,
- a cup of coffee,
- a meal,
- a walk,
- a silent prayer,
- maybe even a post (or, a whole flippin’ BLOG!).
If I need to “say” something encouraging, I trust it will come to me.
So, for 2022, I am now a weirdo with a word, and I’m encouraging you to:
- Find growth in the heavy and the hard. It won’t be easy, it won’t be fun – but it can be done, and it’s SO worth it.
- Make your 2021 joy list. ☺️
Cheers to 2022. We’ve got this. ❤
